Autumn care for your orchid: helpful tips!

October 2024 – Autumn is dawning! As the leaves fall from the trees outside and the temperature drops, your Phalaenopsis requires appropriate care. We’d like to help you get started with some handy tips.

Light and temperature

In autumn, the days get shorter and less sunny. Make sure your plant still gets enough indirect daylight. Make sure that the orchid is not in a draft – so a spot right next to an open window or next to the front door is not a good idea. The ideal temperatures for the Phalaenopsis are between 15-25 degrees.

Watering

In the cooler months, orchids use less water Only water your Phalaenopsis when the roots and the top of the potting soil feel almost dry. It can be a challenge to know exactly when and how much water your Phalaenopsis needs. We tell you in this blog: when should I water my orchid?

Nutrition

Even if your orchid grows a little slower in the fall, it can still use some extra nutrients. Add nutrients to the water once a month. This will ensure healthy roots, beautiful shiny leaves and a strong plant!

With these simple adjustments, you can help your Phalaenopsis make it through fall in style. With the right care, you will be rewarded with beautiful, healthy leaves and maybe even new buds!
