Care tips for your orchid
To enjoy your Mimesis orchid for as long as possible!
Looking for care tips for you orchid? Of course you want to enjoy your Mimesis orchid for as long as possible! That is why we list all the ins and outs in terms of care for you. Handy, right?
Temperature and light
A Mimesis orchid grows well at normal room temperatures, preferably between 18°C and 22°C. So put her in a light spot, but avoid direct sunlight in the summer months (April to August). This can cause the leaves to turn yellow. The loss of flower buds or leaves, on the other hand, can indicate a lack of light.
Water
A Mimesis orchid needs water once a week. Submerge the cultivation pot in a layer of water for 10 minutes. This gives the roots enough time to absorb the water. You can then put the orchid back in the decorative pot. Make sure that no water remains in the decorative pot; the orchid does not like wet feet! Did you know that you can also tell by the roots whether the orchid needs water? If the roots are gray, she is thirsty. If the roots are green, she’s having a good time!
Do you have a Mimesis orchid in a smaller pot size (<9cm)? Then water the plant twice a week. Finally, for optimal flowering pleasure, you can feed the orchid Pokon or Culvita once a month.
Arrangements
Is your orchid in an arrangement and submersion is not possible? Place 2 ice cubes next to the leaf of the plant twice a week. Because these melt slowly, the roots have enough time to absorb the water. Of course you can also pour 40 cc of water next to the heart of the plant twice a week, but do this slowly.
Sensitive character
Orchids have a sensitive character. They do not tolerate drafts and fluctuating room temperatures. In addition, they also prefer not to be next to ripening fruit or flower bulbs. These give off a certain substance, which the orchid cannot stand. Do you want to enjoy her as long as possible? Then these facts are certainly useful to pursue.
